Friday, August 3rd: Stories (Reclaimed)

We at Artspace Liberti hope that you can join us on Friday, August 3rd from 6:00-9:00 for the reception for Stories (Reclaimed), a reception for the first Liberti Teen Art Camp.

For the month of July, Liberti has been working with teens in the Fishtown, Port Richmond and Kensington neighborhoods on a collaborative installation.  The teens have been sharing parts of their own lives, delving into the art-making process through that narrative starting point and then combining their works together to tell a story that is larger than any of the individual participants.
The students have also been expanding that idea of reinterpreting their own personal story conceptually into their use of materials.  The majority of surfaces and media used in the creative process are repurposed.  The Liberti community donated remnants from their own projects, either from their work sites or from their homes.  The students have then learned that they can create something new from something previously given up for disposal.

The reception for this work will be held Friday, August 3rd from 6:00-9:00PM.
Artspace Liberti is located at 2424 E York St.  Directions can be found on the right side of this blog.
